Description
The term »paisley« derives from the town of the same name in western Scotland, which was a well-known centre for textile manufacturing in the mid-19th century and whose weaving mills used the pattern for their scarves. The fine scarves with the distinctive pattern quickly became a favourite accessory of Queen Victoria and thus a must-have for fine English society.
The origins of the pattern, however, are much older, and date back as far as the Chaldean people. According to history, the pattern emulates the offshoot of a date palm, which was essential for the survival of the Chaldeans. The pattern was called »buta« or »botah« by the Persians and was used by the ruling family and rich families for shawls made of the finest cashmere. The Persians brought the pattern to India, from where British soldiers took it to Europe.
The interplay of the high-quality materials, the brilliance of the colours and the elegant fringed hem make the scarf an absolute head-turner, adding a sophisticated touch to your outfit.
