Shoe care
Foundation for value retention, function and longevity
Clean, well-maintained shoes are an essential part of any wardrobe. They reveal more about the wearer than you might think. Honoré de Balzac already knew that you can recognise a person by the condition of their shoes.

Why regular shoe care is important
High-quality shoes are not only an expression of style, but also an investment. The right care extends their lifespan, protects them from environmental influences and maintains their comfort and appearance. Natural materials such as leather in particular require regular attention in order to remain supple, colourfast and weatherproof.
Basic rules of shoe care
Before wearing for the first time:
Leather should be impregnated before the first use to protect it from moisture and dirt.
Clean before care:
Dust and dirt prevent the penetration of care products. Clean smooth leather with a damp cloth, suede with a brush and cleaning rubber. Never treat damp leather.
Use care products selectively:
- Smooth leather: shoe polishes and waxes nourish the leather, protect it from drying out and keep it supple.
- Suede and nubuck leather: Special brushes and care sprays maintain the velvety texture and prevent matting.
Care of Rubber Boots
Huntingtrousers are robust, but they also need care:
- Cleaning: Rinse off fresh dirt directly with lukewarm water. For stubborn dirt, use soft brushes and mild soapy water.
- Drying: Always allow to air dry, away from direct heat.
- Storage: Store upright and stress-free. Do not expose to strong sunlight.
- Care: Treat natural rubber boots regularly with rubber care product to maintain elasticity and shine.
- Cleaning the inside: Wash out with soapy water and a soft brush, allow to dry thoroughly and use sanitising spray if necessary.
Proper care of hunting boots
Hunting boots made of robust leather are exposed to particular stresses. We therefore recommend:
- Basic cleaning: Remove laces and insoles, remove dirt with water and a brush.
- Drying: Allow to air dry for 2-3 days, insert newspapers, avoid direct heat.
- Pre-cleaning: Remove residual dirt with a brush and lukewarm water, clean hard-to-reach areas with a toothbrush.
- Wax care: Apply a thin layer, massage in with your fingers or scarves and leave to soak in for several hours. If necessary, finish with a cold hairdryer. Avoid mesh inserts.
- Impregnate: Finish with a suitable waterproofing spray.
- Care routine: Regular care - even when not in use - protects against drying out and cracking.
Shoe wax or shoe polish?
Both have their place:
- Shoe polish nourishes the leather, compensates for colour loss and keeps it supple.
- Shoe wax protects against moisture and adds lustre. It Shapes a weatherproof layer and preserves the surface.
A combination is ideal: first clean, then apply polish, then wax and polish.
Quality and sustainability
Protection against moisture and dirt is essential, especially for leather shoes and hunting boots. Waterproofing agents form a breathable protective layer that repels water and dirt without impairing natural ventilation. Regular use, especially at the start of the cold and damp season, is essential to ensure the durability of shoes.
Regular care as a routine
Only consistent and regular care will preserve the look and function of your shoes in the long term - especially for high-quality models and hunting boots.
