Description
Life, nature and hunting are nowhere as demanding, wild and honest as in the mountains. Mountain hunting not only places particularly high demands on the physical fitness and shooting skills of the hunter, but also does not allow any compromises in the choice of equipment. The »Säntis« jacket was developed especially for the needs of this kind of hunt and is based on the classic Heinz Bauer »Beaver Creek« hunting jacket. It is made of the best, breathable loden fabric (580 g/m), which is so carefully milled that the jacket is almost waterproof and windproof. The traditional material is absolutely noiseless and offers an optimal body climate in every season thanks to excellent moisture transport and breathability. The width of the jacket can be individually adjusted via a drawstring. For increased comfort and ventilation on long marches or steep climbs, the jacket haszippered side vents and a mesh lining. The practical cartridge pocket on the left sleeve allows quick reloading. Functional pockets offer space for all the important things like maps, gloves and everything you like to have handy. The jacket also has two lined slip pockets and a hood integrated in the collar for protection against wind and weather. Other details such as the practical zipped pocket under the centre button placket, two inside pockets, two further inside pockets for pens and the leather buttons with discreet logo embossing skilfully underline the attention to detail. The quilted leather trim on the shoulders and sleeves provides protection from wear and increased comfort when carrying a backpack or rifle. The trims are made of tear-resistant, waterproof membrane-laminated kangaroo leather. Kangaroo leather is almost twice as strong as cowhide and absorbs only half as much water, making it ideal for heavy-duty use. But kangaroo leather impresses not only in terms of function, it is also ideal for the demanding mountain hunt in terms of weight – it is as sturdy as cowhide, but significantly thinner and lighter. Kangaroo leather retains its strength where other types of leather require heavy scraping and splitting, which significantly reduces their physical performance. The unique properties of kangaroo leather are optimised through the tanning process, resulting in a strong, lightweight and natural high-performance material. Kangaroos are not bred in Australia, but hunted due to their high numbers and the decreasing number of their predators. The first-class workmanship and high-quality materials make the »Säntis« jacket the epitome of mountain hunting jackets – more perfect, comfortable and luxurious.
For additional comfort and warmth, two different optional linings are available, which can be zipped into the jacket – a practical quilted lining or, on request, an elegant squirrel fur lining.
