The tall »Zora« Haferl Boots combine traditional craftsmanship with functional elegance. Made from high-quality cowhide and fitted with a grippy Vibram® tread sole, these boots offer reliable protection in wind and weather – ideal for use in the countryside or everyday wear.
Comfort & fit
A deep, concealed side zip allows for particularly easy entry and removal. The adjustable shaft widthlast shape specifically developed for the female foot offers generous space at the front and top of the toe area. The carefully hand-lasted upper follows the natural contours of the forefoot and instep, resulting in a close-fitting, anatomically optimised fit.
Materials & craftsmanship
The vegetable-tanned cowhide impresses with its durability, distinctive appearance and supple feel. Inside, a high-quality leather lining ensures a comfortable foot climate. The double-stitched construction makes the boot particularly robust and long-lasting. Shoes constructed using this method are not only exceptionally durable, but can also be resoled with ease. Compared to buying new, this is not only economically sensible, but also helps conserve valuable resources – a decision that reflects long-term thinking in favour of quality and the environment.
Each pair is individually handcrafted in the company’s own workshop in Hungary, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to the highest standards of quality.
A piece of Allgäu shoemaking heritage
The origins of the Haferl shoe can be traced back to the early 19th century. In 1803, Franz Schratt, a shoemaker from Oberstdorf, recognised the shortcomings of traditional wooden shoes and developed a new model made of sturdy cowhide – tailored specifically to the needs of hunters and alpine farmers. Inspired by the sure-footed gait of the chamois, he designed a boot with a narrow, undercut sole for better grip in mountainous terrain, a side cut-out to protect the ankle, and a steeply angled vamp to relieve pressure on the toes during descents.
