The striking »Devon« duffle coat of English tweed fabric impresses with the highest quality materials and its exquisite workmanship. According to history, the duffle coat originates from the small Belgian town of Duffel in the province of Antwerp, which became known in Europe in the 17th century as the capital of cloth-making and exported its products all over Europe. The »duffle« was a black, rough wool fabric. The local people sold the warm fabric and used it to sew clothes for fishermen. The longer cut jackets with a buckle at the neck and a loose hood, or »duffle« coats, provided excellent protection for fishermen from the harsh weather at sea. The warming hood, patch pockets, tried-and-tested buffalo horn toggles and characteristic leather ties, which can be opened and closed quickly even with thick gloves, along with the knee-length cut are the attributes of a true classic. A duffle coat is the perfect choice for chilly days.
