The goose down traps body heat like nothing else can, and our oil finish fabrics keep it dry so it can do its job. The goose down that insulates this vest consists of large spherical clusters of the soft under-plumage of gray geese, each cluster with thousands of soft filaments that trap heat. This is why goose down has been the champion of lightweight warmth for centuries. We use only responsibly-sourced goose down, which means that the geese that provide it are treated humanely–never live-plucked or force-fed. All of our goose down is traceable and certified to follow the RDS (Responsible Down Standard), and is processed in bluesign®-approved facilities.
Our Down Cruiser Vest’s shell is mostly built with Cover Cloth, our lightest-weight oil finish waxed fabric–thoroughly saturated with our special wax mixture to ensure maximum water resistance. We deployed Shelter Cloth, our midweight oil-finish fabric, for the pockets and lower-back for added durability. Merino wool lines the collar, so your necks feels warm even if snow blows under the brim of your hat. The front pockets are arranged much like our work vests, with side-entry hand pockets and snap-flap cargo and slotted-utility pockets. It’s lined with 1.4-oz. ripstop nylon, so lightweight it’s virtually unnoticeable apart from the comfort it provides. With our Down Cruiser Vest, you’ll be surprised at how warm you can be without a coat.
