Description
The function of the gamekeeper dates back about 200 years, when in 1848 Queen Victoria and Prince Albert acquired Balmoral Castle and popularised classical hunting. Since gamekeepers worked outdoors in all weathers, their clothes had to be robust and weatherproof. Even then, clothing made of tweed fabric fulfilled this requirement perfectly – it is extremely hard-wearing, keeps warm and protects against rain.
