Noble Wilde
For more than three decades, knitting specialist Noble Wilde in New Zealand has been perfecting the blend of two of the world's best natural fibres: the dense silky wool of merino sheep and the lush possum fur. Each one already exquisite in itself, these materials combined with each other form a velvety soft yarn that is unsurpassed in warmth and durability. Merino and Possum have excellent physical, functional and ethical properties.
Today, possums are considered the largest animal pests in New Zealand, consuming over 21 000 tons of native vegetation per day. The idea of blending merino wool and possum fur fibres assisted by adding a small amount of nylon, (nowadays replaced by silk) was developed by a New Zealand knitter in 1992. Developed as a by-product of the possum control programme, it makes this knitwear an environmentally friendly choice.
