The »gunpowder« in the name Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin refers to a Chinese green tea, whose leaves are slowly dried and then rolled into shiny balls. They are reminiscent of the ammunition of ancient firearms - hence the unusual name.The unmistakable note of the Gunpowder tea from Asia gives the gin its characteristic spiciness and combines perfectly with the other ingredients such as juniper berries, coriander, angelica root, cardamom and star anise. Chinese lime, grapefruit and kaffir lime give this gin a slightly acidic, fruity freshness which contrasts marvellously with the oriental spices. A total of twelve exquisite ingredients are used for the Irish gin. It is distilled in small batches in copper pot stills to achieve a perfect balance of aroma and flavour. After distillation, the »Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin« is stored for a further 21 days to harmonise the ingredients. This is followed by a light cold filtration.
