»Kaiza 5« Gin, 500 ml, ABV 43 %

The New Western Dry Gin is produced in Cape Town under the name Blind Tiger Gin by master distiller Keegan Cook in a small batch process. Small batch means quality and enjoyment instead of mass taste and mass production. For legal reasons, Blind Tiger Gin was given the name Kaiza 5 in Europe. Kaiza means »independent king« and the 5 stands for the five botanicals: grapefruit, blackcurrant, juniper, coriander and angelica root. Kaiza 5 Gin inspires even before opening, with the silvery shimmer of the tiger’s eyes immediately captivating the viewer's gaze. Like a tiger in the wild, Kaiza 5 Gin is strong and extremely confident in its demeanour. A wonderful scent of fresh currants plays around the nose. In the glass, the gin delights with a fresh, fruity kick thanks to the perfect balance of the dominant currants and the finely integrated juniper flavour. Fresh, slightly bitter palate of sun-ripened grapefruit. Elegantly balanced finish with a pleasant nuance of angelica root and coriander. The main difference to the production of a classic London Dry Gin is that the master distiller can time the addition of the botanicals much more freely when making a New Western Dry Gin. With London Dry Gin, there is a clear time regulation regarding the ingredients. Another difference is the obligatory number of distillation processes. A London Dry Gin is to be at least triple distilled. It is important to note that a New Western Dry Gin must not be additionally sweetened as it gets its aroma exclusively from the botanicals used. The aim is not to accentuate the juniper berries as the main note, but to give the other botanicals the chance to express their own flavour nuances more distinctively. The typical gin character is more subliminal due to the other flavours. Drink Kaiza 5 Gin in a fine Copa glass with ice, a dry tonic water and the zest of an aromatic grapefruit. The fruity, intense gin is also perfect neat or as an excellent base for summer cocktails.
