Like many of Lhéraud's cognacs, the Lhéraud Cognac Cuvée 20 ans is slightly over-proof at 43 %. Lhéraud's cognacs marked with age statements are actually »vintages« in disguise. It is a blend of eaux-de-vie aged for one year in Limousin and Tronçais oak barrels. Each of the cuvée blends places emphasis on the character of its cognac, and each spent the first few years in newer oak barrels, then transferred to older barrels to complete the maturation process, which gave colour and bouquet to these exceptional cognacs.
The Lhéraud cognac house is located in the Crus Fine Champagne of Cognac and is famous for its oceanic and continental climate influences. The vineyards were initially planted with three sorts of grapes: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard. Due to the spread of various diseases, including phylloxera, the latter two were replaced over time by the Ugni Blanc. This cognac house is one of the few in the region that grows all three grape varieties and uses them in its blends.
An opulent cognac with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and orange peel that is well balanced and delights from the start with enticing aromas, a complex flavour and a truly satisfying finish. The intense but finely balanced aromas make it an ideal cigar spirit. But also as a fine digestif, corresponding with a piece of fine dark chocolate.

    Further details on the manufacturer

Lhéraud is a very exclusive French cognac house with almost 200 years of history, whose passion for distillation began as early as 1785 with viniculture. A supplier to the English Royal Family and the Princely House of Monaco, it is committed to the highest quality and today grows the finest grape varieties such as Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard on 90 hectares of estate vineyards located in the heart of the Cognac region in Petite Champagne. Unlike most other eaux-de-vie in the world, cognac is made by double distilling an acidic white wine. A good cognac must start with a good wine, like the one from the Lhéraud family vineyards. Lhéraud cognacs are produced in a traditional alambic. Distillation begins in December after the second fermentation and is done by hand, without electronic controls or equipment. The choices made during distillation - gentle or strong heating, the moment to cut, the separation of the first and last distillates from the heart cut - have a major impact on the eaux-de-vie. All cognacs are carefully produced according to tradition and bottled without any additives. Lhéraud distils with elegance - a family expertise passed on with love, wisdom and respect. The company is one of the best addresses for excellent cognacs.
