Tasting notes: The Sauvignon Blanc shines in a clear, bright yellow in the glass. The bouquet is typical of both the grape variety and its origin, intense and fruity at the same time. Notes of green apple, yellow fruit, and delicate floral aromas merge into an enticing scent. The palate is wonderfully crisp and lively, simultaneously full-bodied and rich. Purity and juiciness pervade the wine, and in the finish, it bids farewell with a long-lasting, fruity aftertaste. This Sauvignon Blanc combines elegance, freshness, and flavour in perfect balance.
Food pairings: Enjoy this dry Sauvignon Blanc with smoked trout and dill mayonnaise, tuna carpaccio, grilled tuna with butter sauce and capers, lightly spiced curries or goat's cream cheese au gratin with green asparagus. We recommend drinking the wine at a slightly chilled temperature of between 8-10 °C.
The vinification: The wine-growing region of South Africa enjoys an ideal climate for viticulture. The Western Cape in particular, located at the south-western tip of the country, benefits from a prevailing Mediterranean climate, which is fostered by the cooling Benguela Current. This ensures a pleasant warmth even during the long summer months and despite the warm and sunny weather. This balanced climate creates optimal conditions for wine cultivation.
The wine tradition in the Western Cape dates back over 300 years. The lime- and sandstone soils around Cape Town provide the ideal ground for velvety, soft, and complex red wines, mainly Cabernet, Syrah, and Merlot. In the higher-altitude regions, white grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc often develop enchanting aromas of exotic fruits. The wines of »The Fishwives Club« are crafted through careful selection of the best grapes, winemakers, and terroirs from the world-famous Cape Wine Region, resulting in exceptional wines. Experienced winemakers hand-harvest the grapes to ensure the highest quality.
